Today I'm sharing the second of three scrapbook layouts that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Silver Screen Magic collection from Craft O'Clock.
For this layout I went very masculine to showcase this collections versatility. You can do feminine and floral or masculine and grungy. The choice is yours.
For the base I have used the reverse side of the #1 paper and stenciled around the centre and cluster areas using a brick stencil and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. I've added some random stamping using film strip stamps and Ground Espresso Distress Ink. Splatters were added using both colour inks mixed with some water.
The frame was cut from the reverse side of the #6 paper with a cutting knife rather than scissors or a trimmer. This was so the original paper could still be used for a layout or project at a later date. This frame works perfectly with a 3x4" photo. I went with a sepia photo to keep in with the "vintage" feel of this collection.
Ink all edges of the frame including the inside edges. Flip the frame over and add double sided tape to the inside of the frame. Line it up over your photo and adhere to the photo. Add some scrap cardboard to the photo and frame then adhere to the layout base.
Elements were fussy cut from the Silver Screen Magic - Extras Set 3 Mixed papers and inked with brown ink. Two halves of the viewfinders were die cut from the reverse side of the cover sheet. Before I die cut these, I cut the middle portion of the page first as I wanted to keep the mini paper squares for a project. I had enough scraps left over to cut halves of the viewfinder. These will be tucked under the photo mat anyway so you will only need halves. I also die cut a small scrap piece using the Mini Film Strip Die from Uniquely Creative. Don't discard the little square pieces as they will be added to the layout. Note: this die has been discontinued so if you don't have it or can't source it, Dusty Attic have a chipboard version so you could use this instead. It can be inked or even covered with the paper. If you don't have the exact products, there's always a workaround.
All elements were inked with brown ink and adhered to the base as shown. Ink the edges of the little square pieces from the viewfinder and add them to the base as shown. Add your chipboard title to the bottom of the frame. I had originally inked this with brown ink but because this title was in a fine font, it wasn't popping enough on the layout so I repainted it with a black paint pen. Some brown metallic sequins were added to the stars to complete the layout.
