Christmas Cards for Paper Rose

Hi everyone! I'm sharing two Christmas cards created for Paper Rose using the Hayley's Bouquet and Sarah's Bouquet stamps. I have given these stamps a Christmas vibe by colouring them with Copic alcohol markers and paired with papers from the Christmas Wishes collection. Christmas Art Journal Page for The Scrap Room

Today I'm sharing an art journal that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Pine Festivities rice paper by 3Quarter Designs. This is the first time I have ever done a Christmas art journal page but it came together really quickly and easily.

 

To create this page I cut the elements from the rice paper that I wanted to use on the page. A combination of Oxide Inks were added to colour match the rice paper and blend it in with the background. Random stamping and stenciling was done over the edges to hide the joins. The edges of the pages were inked for contrast and dimension. The sentiment is from the 12x12 paper pack which has been trimmed down, distressed and adhered to the page. To finish accents were added using a gold gel pen.

Vellum Christmas Cards for The Scrap Room

Today I'm sharing a set of three A2 cards that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Pine Festivities A4 Vellum Sheet by 3Quarter Designs.

 

Now I have to admit that these cards took a bit of engineering to do because I love a challenge and sticking the vellum panels on to a card base was too easy. Instead I die cut sections on the card fronts using different shaped dies that worked best with the vellum panels.

 

These are A2 top folding cards. I've designed them this way so that when you stand the cards up on display the vellum is a semi transparent and are the star of the show as the feature panel. 

 

I've cut down three pieces of gold cardstock to be 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches and the coordinating paper panels to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches. I lined them up with the original die cut card front, placed the die on top and ran them through my die cut machine. This will ensure your panels all line up perfectly.

 

Next I adhered the vellum panel to each card then the coordinated gold cardstock panels over the top to sandwich the vellum in between. The patterned paper panels were added on top of the gold mat layer.

 

To finish I cut thin borders using the same dies and you don't need nesting dies to do this. All you do is trace around the outside of the die and cut out the shape either with a paper trimmer or scissors. So you will have an oval, square and rectangle pieces. Place the die back down on these pieces, tape them down so they don't move and then run them through your die cut machine. You will have a slim border. You can also use nesting dies but I wanted a slimmer border for these cards. Adhere the gold frames over the cut out areas to complete the cards.

 

The easier way to do this is to cut down your paper panels, mat onto gold cardstock and add to your A2 top folding card base. Then die cut each of the vellum panels and mat onto a gold cardstock panel in the same shape and adhere to the card base. The only real difference is that you wont have the semi transparency of the vellum.

Cherish the Little Moments Layout for The Scrap Room

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing the third of three layouts that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Pine Festivities by 3Quarter Designs.

 

 For the base I've cut two 2" strips from the dark green paper to give some contrast and balance to my photo. I've then torn the centre panel and adhered this to the two dark green strips to form the 12x12 base. Tip: use your score board as a guide by lining up the two outer strips with the 0" and 12" marks. Lightly adhere them with removal tape. Then adhere the middle panel to the two outer panels. 

 

 I had red in my photo so I've chosen elements from the die cut and fussy cut sheets that had red berries and also matted the photo onto some red glitter cardstock to tie them all together. I've also die cut some berries and holly leaves in the same red glitter cardstock and added them into the clusters. I cut a slit on the santa cap with a craft knife so it would sit over the photo corner.

 

The word sentiment is from the bottom of the papers and has been trimmed down, distressed then matted onto some of the dark green cardstock. 

 

I've added some muslin into the clusters to add some softness. Then added some brushed gold pearls and red gems to complete the layout.

May Your Days Be Merry Layout for The Scrap Room

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing the second of three layouts that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Pine Festivities by 3Quarter Designs.

 

For this layout I've used the wreath on the reverse side of the front cover as the base. My photo has been matted onto some black cardstock then gold glitter cardstock. I used a 3x4" photo for this layout so it wouldn't cover so much of the wreath.

 

I chose elements from the die cut sheets and fussy cutting sheets that worked with the images in the wreath. The baubles were fussy cut from the back cover page. I've die cut some holly leaves using the same gold glitter cardstock and added them into the clusters. The cluster was arranged to look like it was part of the wreath.

 

I've trimmed down one of the sentiments from the bottom of the papers, matted onto black cardstock and the gold cardstock to tie in with the photo and make it stand out more on the layout.

A Merry Elf Layout for The Scrap Room

I'm sharing the first of three layouts that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Pine Festivities by 3Quarter Designs.

 

The page I have used for the base was a little busy so I've cut a 1 1/2" frame. The remaining centre piece has been matted onto some black cardstock trimmed down to have a 1/8 inch border. This was then adhered back to the original frame to form the base. This helps to break up a busy page and directs your eyes to the focal point/photo.

 

My photo has been matted onto some black cardstock and adhered to the base. Elements from the die cut and fussy cut sheets were added. I do fussy cut all elements from the die cut sheets too so they all work together.

 

I've then die cut some poinsettia flowers from gold cardstock and added them into the clusters to help break them up and add some contrast.

 

Mel had given me the 2Crafty chipboard title which originally said "A Merry Bunch of Elves". I didn't have a suitable photo to go with this and thought that I couldn't use it. But I got inventive and cut it down to be "A Merry Elf" and it worked perfectly with my photo. Tip: you can always alter products to make them work for you.

 

The chipboard title was painted with a black paint pen then glossy accents added after it was adhered to the base. Some flat gold sequins were added to complete the layout.

Find Your Own Rhythm Layout for The Scrap Room

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing the third of three layouts that I have created for The Scrap Room craft store using the Center Stage All in One Kit by 49 and Market. This collection has been a lot of fun and so easy to create with. Center Stage does have a dance theme to it but you can still very easily do a generic layout or project with this collection.

 

 For the base I wanted to use the floral paper with the faux layers. These types of pages are good for quick and easy layouts because half of the work is already done for you. All you have to do is add your photo and elements. Everything you need to create this layout is right in the pack (gems excluded).

 

I trimmed a 1/4 inch from each side of this paper and then distressed all sides. By using my scissors to distress the edges, they tore the paper. I ended up tearing those little pieces off which worked out well because it helped the checkered paper to pop a little more on the base. Gotta love a happy accident right?

 

My 3x4 inch photo was distressed with a sanding block then adhered it to some pink paper from the pack, the same checkered paper and then the laser cut frame from the pack. Each layer has been adhered using foam tape to give it extra loft and dimension. 

 

I've then chosen elements that work with the flower on the base and to create clusters on the top left and bottom right of the photo. The title was created using a word strip from the laser cuts and adhered over the top of one of the round laser cut words. 

 

To complete the layout I've added some coordinating pink gems to give the page a bit of sparkle and shine.
