"Bohemian Beauty" Layout

#artdecocreations   #couturecreationsaus    #ultimatecrafts

Hi everyone! It's Julie here back on the blog today sharing a layout that I created using the new release "Bohemian Bouquet" collection from Ultimate Crafts, designed by Denise Bodey. I absolutely love this collection! There's four colour combinations and designs that you can use separately or mix and match for some added contrast. The possibilities are endless! For this layout, I've used a photo of Delta Goodrem for this layout as Delta's style is very "Bohemian" and perfect for this collection.

I started by taking two of the patterned papers from the 12x12 paper pad. I've randomly torn both pages top and bottom. Start with the yellow flower patterned piece then once you have torn your first strip, line it up on top of the blue patterned paper so you know roughly where to tear it. Line these two pieces on top of the yellow patterened paper and tear another strip. Repeat the process for the bottom layers. Once you have your strips, alternate and attach the layers to reassemble your page as shown below. Ink around the whole page using tumbled glass, or similar blue toned ink.

You should end up with a leftover piece looking someting like this. Cut into four random sized pieces, these will be used for the photo mat.

I've then taken the same blue patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad to use as the main photo mat. If you don't have the 6x6 paper pad, use the same patterned piece from the 12x12 paper pad. Adhere your photo then trim down leaving approximately a 1/4 inch border around the photo.

From the four pieces of leftover paper, assemble around the photo as shown. I ended up cutting some pieces in half to fill in the spaces. There are no measurements as I've just cut these pieces down randomly. Ink all layers with tumbled glass before adhering.

I've cut down some thick cardboard from an old box to give the photo mat some extra dimension. You can use foam tape/squares/dots if you prefer. I find the cardboard is much more sturdy, especially for large areas.

The main flower is a La Belle Vintage Bloom coloured with salty ocean distress ink mixed with water on a non stick craft mat. Pre soak your flowers with water first as it helps the colour to spread easily over the flowers. Cover the stamens with Pharoah Liquid Pearl 3D Drops.

For the Tye Died Jewelled Florette flowers, I decided to add some shimmer by mixing yellow pigment powder to some spiced marmalade/fossilised amber distress inks and water. Blue pigment powder was also added to the tumbled glass/salty ocean distress inks for the Camden Cottage Roses.

Next, I've taken some baby blue glitter paper and die cut five pieces using the Classic Branch Decorative Die. Four go on the flower cluster to the left of the photo and one cut in half for the top right cluster. Take the Geo Flower Decorative Die and cut one piece from some Marigold cardstock. Cut in half and arrange on the layout as shown. Ink the Bouquet Doily Chipboard with fossilised amber distress ink, cut in half then one half in halves again and arange as shown. Adhere all the embellishments as shown in the photos below, add some gemstones, pearls and one of the Yellow Layered Butterflies.

To finish, mix some salty ocean ink with water and with a paint brush lightly splatter around the layout focusing more on the bottom left and top right of the layout. Remember to cover your photo first! :)

Dimensional Christmas Cards with a Twist

#artdecocreations   #couturecreationsaus    #ultimatecrafts

Hi everyone! It's Julie here back on the blog today sharing some dimensional Christmas cards that I created using stamps to create my own patterned paper with a twist.

I've taken the Poinsettia stamp from the Cardinal and Poinsettia Stamp Set and stamped around the edge of a 5x5 inch piece of white cardstock. For the second card I have used the Holly stamp from the To Be Jolly Stamp Set and repeated the process. Start with stamping each corner then fill in the middle areas as shown.

These stamps have been coloured with Distress Ink markers but you could use your preferred colouring mediums such as Copics, Spectrum Noir or even pencils.

Next I've worked out where I want my sentiment to be on the card. Lightly mark above and below the die on the horizontal card and to the left and right of the vertical card. Cut into three strips with your paper trimmer.

Adhere the top and bottom/left and right pieces to some coordinating cardstock in the colour of choice. For these examples I have used Ultimate Crafts Shamrock for the red card and Ultimate Crafts Rubelite for the green card. Mat the middle piece onto it's own piece of the same colour cardstock and trim down. The ends have been cut right down so there is no cardstock showing and it aligns with the other two pieces. Adhere to the card making sure to line up the stamped images as close as possible prior to cutting.

I've then die cut the Merry Christmas and Jingle all the Way sentiments using glitter cardstock. I've used a different colour glitter cardstock to the matting so it pops more on the card. I've also die cut these sentiments from craft foam and adhered to the glitter die cut. You could add some Die Cut & Bond to your glitter cardstock prior to die cutting, this will make adhering to the craft foam a little easier if gluing is not your thing.

For the inside of the card I have used the same poinsettia and holly stamps that were used on the card front, only this time I stamped the image in the top left and bottom corners. I used grey ink for these to make them appear softer. I've taken sentiments from the To Be Jolly stamp set and stamped in the middle of the card.

Add some 2mm gemstones and some shimmer pen around the images as shown in the pictures and the cards are finished. You can use the colour scheme as I have or any other combination such as pink and blue, purple and silver, gold and silver. Or do a full set of all colours. The choice is yours :)

White With 1 October Challenge

Wednesday, October 04, 2017 0 Comments
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month here in Australia which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.  I am sure there are few of us who have not been touched by breast cancer in some way from amongst our families, friends, neighbours or work colleagues.  So this month we are using PINK WHISPER in honour of this cause. I urge each and every one of you to be vigilant in your self awareness and care - early detection saves lives so ladies please, please check your breasts.  For those in Australia here is a link to the National Breast Cancer Foundation where there is vital information and an opportunity to make a donation if you wish.

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my October inspirational piece for White.. With 1. The colour for October is Pink Whisper and there is also a mood board for inspiration too.

White.. With 1 challenges require your layout to be at least 85% white PLUS the specified challenge colour for that particular month. You can use black (or dark brown) as an accent colour on your layout but it must not be the dominant colour, unless it is the specified colour for that month. The full WW1 challenge rules can be found here. This year there will also be either a mood board for inspiration or a sketch to follow.

White.. With 1 Challenges are sponsored by:

You have a chance to win an EXCLUSIVE Mystery kit from THE RESIN RAINBOW based each month on our own monthly colour here at White..with 1.  One of these amazing kits will be put aside for one lucky Australian / New Zealand entrant who will be chosen by creative team vote.

Our random draw winner up each month will receive a delightful selection of handmade embellishments, flairs and flowers (chosen from amongst these) from SCRAPPERS GARDEN.  Some beautiful creations here and available from her STORE.
