Shine Bright Guest Designer for Lady Pattern Paper

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing my second layout created for Lady Pattern Paper using the beautiful Moon Child collection titled "Stay Wild Moon Child". I love the astrological, spiritual vibe of this collection. I've included a quick tutorial and close up photos below to show how I created this layout.

Tutorial
  1. Start with a piece of 12x12 white cardstock, trim off a one inch strip from one side.
  2. Cut the 'stripey strip' from both of the "Stay Wild" 12x12 papers in the pack (you will need both strips).
  3. Cut one of the stripey strips in half length ways so you have two 12 inch long strips. Adhere to each side of the white cardstock to form the 12x12 layout base. A quick way to do this is temporarily adhere the two strips to your craft mat - one at the 0" mark and the other at the 12" mark. Then centrally adhere your white cardstock to these strips. Doing it this way will make sure your base is 12" x 12" square.
  4. Mat your photo onto some black cardstock. I have used a 4"x6" photo.
  5. Smoosh some ink onto a non-stick or glass craft mat, spray very lightly with water. Using some scrap plastic (from packaging) press into the ink/water mix then random stamp around the white cardstock base. Repeat the process using the second colour. I have colour matched the ink to the paper and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen and Victorian Velvet. If you don't have these inks then use what you have in your craft stash closest to the colours used in the papers.
  6. Random stamp using a text stamp first in the Antique Linen, then the Victorian Velvet then with some black archival ink.
  7. Cut the second stripey strip in half so you have two by six inch pieces, then cut one of these strips in half length ways. Adhere to the photo mat as shown in the completed layout.
  8. Cut elements from the "Polygons" 12x12 paper. I've trimmed these very close this time and also cut down the larger elements so they better fit into clusters.
  9. Cut the "Shine Bright" title from the "Bright" chipboard title set. Cut the stars from the title, sand down any left over rough edges.
  10. Ink the inside area of the title with Victorian Velvet ink. I've used the marker but you could smoosh some ink onto a craft mat, lightly mist with water and use a fine tip brush to paint the chipboard. Outline with a white gel pen. Repeat this step with the four stars using the Antique Linen ink.
  11. Cut the "Stars" from the "Borders" chipboard set, ink with Antique Linen.
  12. I did the next step after I had already adhered the chipboard elements to the layout, but you can definitely do this beforehand if it's easier. Add some shimmer all over each of the chipboard elements. When dry, cover all elements with Glossy Accents or similar product. If you don't have Glossy Accents you can use clear embossing powder and a heat gun to achieve a similar result. Adhere to the layout as shown.
  13. To complete the layout, adhere some sequins in your choice of colour randomly around the layout. If you don't have sequins, gems will also work.

Here are some close up photos so you can see how I've created and embellished the layout.

Stay Wild Moon Child Guest Designer for Lady Pattern Paper

Wednesday, August 18, 2021 0 Comments
Hi everyone! After a short hiatus I'm back creating and blogging. Recently I was lucky enough to score a three month guest design spot for Lady Pattern Paper. Over the coming months, I'll be sharing lots of projects created with three of their beautiful collections.

Who is Lady Pattern Paper?
"Lady Pattern Paper stepped into the South African paper craft industry as a supplier in May 2015. Born from a dream by founder and proud owner Bernike Coetzee, to bring core & limited designs, produced locally in an attempt to offer South Africans a little piece of homegrown goodness." (taken from Lady Pattern Paper's Facebook page).

This is my first layout created with the beautiful Moon Child collection titled "Stay Wild Moon Child". Love the astrological, spiritual vibe of this collection. I've included a quick tutorial and close up photos below to show how this layout was created.

To start cut a 1/2 to 1 inch frame from the black cardstock provided in the pack.

Trim either one 1/2 of an inch from two sides (only) or 1/4 of an inch from each side of the Galaxy 12x12 patterned paper. Adhere this piece to the black cardstock frame.

Fussy cut the elements from the Polygons 12x12 patterned paper outlined in the image below. For this layout I did follow the outline to leave an edge around each element.

Trim all elements from the Wild Chipboard Elements set including the support frame. File down any leftover bits from where the elements were attached. Adhere the frame slightly off centre to the centre of the base, this will allow extra room for the cluster.

Mat your photo onto some of the leftover black cardstock. Adhere over the frame on a slight angle (optional) with foam tape.

Adhere elements into a cluster as shown in the final layout. I've cut out the moth from the large floral piece and just used the floral parts.

Adhere the chipboard moon over the bottom right cluster with foam tape. I've used two layers of foam tape to allow for the height of the photo. Adhere the words "Stay Wild" and "Moon Child" as shown on the final layout.

Add some clear shimmer (product of your choice) to the chipboard pieces for some shimmer and shine. I've used a clear shimmer brush pen but you could also use a clear shimmer pen or even just clear embossing powder if you don't have a shimmer pen.

To finish, add some gold gems randomly around the layout to add extra some extra shine.
