Hi everyone, today I'm sharing my second layout created for Lady Pattern Paper using the beautiful Moon Child
collection titled "Stay Wild Moon Child". I love the astrological,
spiritual vibe of this collection. I've included a quick tutorial and
close up photos below to show how I created this layout.
Tutorial
- Start with a piece of 12x12 white cardstock, trim off a one inch strip from one side.
- Cut the 'stripey strip' from both of the "Stay Wild" 12x12 papers in the pack (you will need both strips).
- Cut
one of the stripey strips in half length ways so you have two 12 inch
long strips. Adhere to each side of the white cardstock to form the
12x12 layout base. A quick way to do this is temporarily adhere the two strips to your craft mat - one at the 0" mark and the other at the 12" mark. Then centrally adhere your white cardstock to these strips. Doing it this way will make sure your base is 12" x 12" square.
- Mat your photo onto some black cardstock. I have used a 4"x6" photo.
- Smoosh
some ink onto a non-stick or glass craft mat, spray very lightly with
water. Using some scrap plastic (from packaging) press into the
ink/water mix then random stamp around the white cardstock base. Repeat
the process using the second colour. I have colour matched the ink to
the paper and used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen and Victorian
Velvet. If you don't have these inks then use what you have in your
craft stash closest to the colours used in the papers.
- Random stamp using a text stamp first in the Antique Linen, then the Victorian Velvet then with some black archival ink.
- Cut the second stripey strip in half so you have two by six inch pieces, then cut one of these strips in half length ways. Adhere to the photo mat as shown in the completed layout.
- Cut elements from the "Polygons" 12x12 paper. I've trimmed these very close this time and also cut down the larger elements so they better fit into clusters.
- Cut the "Shine Bright" title from the "Bright" chipboard title set. Cut the stars from the title, sand down any left over rough edges.
- Ink the inside area of the title with Victorian Velvet ink. I've used the marker but you could smoosh some ink onto a craft mat, lightly mist with water and use a fine tip brush to paint the chipboard. Outline with a white gel pen. Repeat this step with the four stars using the Antique Linen ink.
- Cut the "Stars" from the "Borders" chipboard set, ink with Antique Linen.
- I
did the next step after I had already adhered the chipboard elements to
the layout, but you can definitely do this beforehand if it's easier.
Add some shimmer all over each of the chipboard elements. When dry,
cover all elements with Glossy Accents or similar product. If you don't
have Glossy Accents you can use clear embossing powder and a heat gun to
achieve a similar result. Adhere to the layout as shown.
- To complete the layout, adhere some sequins in your choice of colour randomly around the layout. If you don't have sequins, gems will also work.
Here are some close up photos so you can see how I've created and embellished the layout.
